What is it Like to Work at Cheeky Raspberries

Patti came on board as a behaviour therapist in 2023. She has previously worked as an allied health assistant and is also completing a Bachelor of Health Sciences at Deakin University. Patti has shared her experience working with us below.

Patti’s Experience

Becoming a Behaviour Therapist (ABA) at Cheeky Raspberries has been an incredibly fulfilling experience. Stephanie, our director, is a passionate, knowledgeable, and organised professional whose warm energy shines throughout the Cheeky Raspberries brand. Working under her guidance has been both inspiring and rewarding. Our monthly overlap sessions with Stephanie ensure that therapists receive consistent feedback, have opportunities to implement suggestions during sessions, collaborate on ideas, overcome challenges, and build confidence in our therapeutic delivery. Her leadership and trust in us foster an environment where we can continually improve and strengthen our skills, creating a healthy and supportive workplace.

Developing my Skillset

When I joined Cheeky Raspberries, I came with some experience and skills from working with children and in paediatric clinics. However, my time here has allowed me to identify and develop my unique strengths as a therapist. For instance, developing rapport and following my learners' lead throughout our sessions, which has led to more trusting relationships with them. I credit this to Stephanie’s support and the space she provides for therapists to learn and evolve independently within our roles. The supportive environment and healthy work-life balance at Cheeky Raspberries ensures I can continue with university and show up as my best self for my clients.

A Rewarding Career

Working with my learners has been a gift in so many ways. Building trust, seeing their eyes light up as we celebrate their progress, watching their confidence blossom, hearing nonverbal learners say my name, and listening to families share their excitement about their child’s development are just a few of the deeply rewarding experiences I’ve had. Celebrating these individual milestones, which are also reflected in our data during monthly team meetings, is a proud moment for the learners, their families, and for me as their therapist.

In turn, my learners have taught me so much as an individual and a therapist. I continue to grow alongside them, constantly reminded of the importance of curiosity, resilience, and fun. Each learner brings their own goals, needs, barriers, challenges, and unique personalities, which makes for a diverse and enriching experience and helps me become a better therapist every day. It is an honour to work alongside our learners, providing them with the space to learn at their own pace, nurturing their confidence through challenging tasks, watching their capacity grow, and collaborating with their families. I highly recommend Cheeky Raspberries and this role to anyone in the psychology field, wanting to specialise in paediatric behaviour and enhancing neurodivergent learning.
